Jusco in Japan

Rimu has karate practice this morning. We plan to pick him up from his karate lessons and then head to Jusco to buy tonight's dinner.

Doesn't it look familiar? Guess all Jusco's ( now known as Aeon) around the world look the same.

Plan to cook Bak Kut Teh for the family tonight. Brought the Bak Kut Teh mix from home. We just have to pick up the pork ribs, garlic and mushrooms.

Shitake Mushrooms are obviously much more cheaper here compared to back home. But garlics are expensive. You could buy a whole bag of garlics back home for the price of 2 garlics here. However all the food produce here is amazingly clean. I couldn't find a speck of dirt on the garlic, it looked like fake food! Veggies are sold pre cut and washed. You don't have to waste your time soaking and washing the veggies like we do back home.

Watermelons スイカ西瓜 and honeydews メロン here however cost a bomb!



Had lunch at the Jusco food court. This is DanDan noodle with beef and Gobu sticks. You order your meal, take your own toppings( tempura batter crisps, spring onion, seaweed) , choose some side dishes if you want, and pay for it.  Plain water is free and self service. Tap water in Japan is safe to drink by the way. After you finish your meal you should return your tray and utensils back to the food counter that sold it.


We make かき氷🍧 which is a Japanese snack of shaved ice flavored with condensed milk and syrup. It's similar to Ais Kacang minus the toppings. I guess its a popular snack during summer. The kids love it!

Bak Kut Teh with simmered 蓮根 lotus root in the background. 


Japanese meat dish, I forgot what it's called. It's pork blanched in dashi, on top of a bed of もやし bean sprouts. The たれ sauce is bought readily made from the supermarket. Tasty but not overpowering like the herbs in the Bak Kut Teh. The kids don't like the herbal taste of the soup. Oh well, at least I tried. Lol.
